Lesson Learned: It’s about what you save not what you earn!
My wife and I graduated college with honors, excelled at our careers and had a combined six-figure income, but we never really managed our money and made some real poor spending choices.
After my wife was downsized and some unexpected crippling medical expensive occurred we had no choice but to open our eyes and see we weren’t being good stewards of our money.
We both love God with all our hearts and have followed him all our lives. But, we weren’t being good stewards of the money God had provided.
We both were devastated trying to figure out how we would dig ourselves out of debt with the small amount of income we currently had.
We decided that we had to have a mind shift, one where we would be more frugal, so we could pay off our mortgage, and retire comfortably in the future.
Can you relate to our situation? Are you looking for a way out? Do you feel like you are sinking?
Have you found yourself in this type of situation? Well, if you have, you may feel STUCK. You’re not alone! Some of the statistics report that 80% of American’s are in debt. Take a deep breath. It doesn’t have to be that way. You might need a RESET! I know we did…We were tired of money controlling us instead we decided to control our money.
Our mission with this site is to help you figure out how to manage your money so you can live the life you want!
Money is no more than a tool we can use to get to where we want to be. Unfortunately, schools and even most colleges don’t teach us how to make, save, and stay out of debt. So, it’s NOT your fault.
It is now our belief that everyone should STOP for a second and PAY ATTENTION to their money to see if you have any holes where your money may be leaking from. If you can plug the holes, you’ll be well on your way to being debt free. We hope to be an inspiration for others to live on less and to find ways to increase their earnings. We hope to inspire you so you can change your financial future to one of peace and comfort and get the debt and stress out of your life so you can enjoy it. We want this to be a fun place to share ideas and to interact with each other.
Universal Rule to Remember:
Income > than debt = Good
Income < than debt = Bad
We are all at different places in our lives. Some have more time than others to correct this debt equation. But, we all have to address it at some point in our lives. Burying our heads in the sand won’t make it stop or go away. We have to face it head on and decide we are going to conquer it.
The most simplistic plan is to increase your income or reduce debt. The fastest way is to do both!
Our #1 goal is to become 100% debt free including our mortgage. We want to be financially free and to be able to reduce stress, enjoy life, and live life on our terms, not the banks, credit card companies or any mortgage company.
We are taking charge of our lives and hope you are here to take charge of yours. You have to decide to do it. You CAN do it! We believe it is every human beings God-given right to be debt free and living a happy, fulfilled life.
We decided to live a frugal lifestyle or minimalist approach to life both financially and emotionally. We now know that frugal living is the means to a happier, more fulfilling life. Frugal living has been a mind shift that helps us build a positive outlook and habits to manage our money effectively so we can live a life of abundance and someday wealth.
Facts about Us
We are a midlife couple that has learned the hard way that debt and things won’t ever give you FREEDOM! It has proven to give us stress and we didn’t like that feeling. LOL
My beautiful wife, Tabitha was born and raised in Andover, Massachusetts. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri.
We met at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri where I graduated with honors and a B.S. Degree in Psychology in 1991. Tabitha finished her degree from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. She received a B.A. in Health Care Management.
We live in the mid-west in a quiet little cozy town. They still have cows right next to the grocery store. Amazing! We have two beautiful daughters, a big German shepherd, who is so sweet and loving and my mom who will turn 85 at the time I’m writing this.
Tab has been a Medical Office Manager for most her adult life and has managed millions of dollars for those companies. She knows how to budget, but we never made a conscious decision to make a budget for our own life. Big Mistake!
I was a police officer for most of my adult life after college. The hours were long, working midnights, holiday’s and weekends, but the job was rewarding, well, most days. I tried to always have a side hustle, working secondary for many different businesses throughout my career.
We have had online businesses for over 11 years at the time I’m writing and will be sharing ideas, tips, and tricks we’ve learned from our businesses.
Our philosophy is to treat others (our readers and friends) as we would want to be treated.
Above all else, we started this blog with the motto of helping people. We believe that integrity is above all else the most important thing in building true friendships that last and it’s our PROMISE to you that we’ll be that trusted source of information.
